marriage counseling - Christian

Latest research has shown that Christian couples are less likely to get divorced and are more likely to lead happier lives, with more stable state of mind, than couples who do not follow any religion. Divorce rate has shown that people in long term therapy (be it marriage counseling, or just normal counseling) eventually turn to religion and spirituality to bring peace to their lives. Interestingly enough, statistics has also shown that these people actually do make a better progress with their relationship counseling.

In fact a research into 1,902 twins, carried out by the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine, found that the those who were committed to a spiritual life were less likely to suffer from depression and had a lower risk of addiction to drugs or alcohol. It also should that they led healthier lifestyle, and that their marriages were also more stable. This was often because they took comfort from the fact that their spiritual community formed a network that held and supported each other.

Another research has also shown that people who lead a spiritual life tend to have lower blood pressure and are less likely to suffer from depression and stress. All of which, leads to a happier marriages.

However, its important to point out that there are certain extremist sects within christianity (as there are with other religions) that encourage and impose "extreme" repression and self-judgment. Therefore, the very vulnerable people can all too easily fall prey to the worst these extremist sects have to offer. It is important to your health and the welfare of your lifestyle, as well as your marriage, that your spiritual path is based around love and compassion and not hate, revenge and extremes of self-denial. People who follow these extremist sects often do so to loose all hope for life and they can then far too easily be "programmed" to carry out acts of hate in the name of religion (again, this applies to ANY extremist religion).
