I want divorce? |
| Description
Simone Katzenberg is a family lawyer and mediator in private practice in London. In this book, she aims to link the emotional and legal aspects of divorce without becoming weighed down by either psychological or legal jargon. Based on her observations of people going through separation and divorce, this book begins with an analysis of the emotional process broken down into seven stages: breakdown, shock, anger, pain, hatred, grief and acceptance. The second part contains practical advice on the legal process including the divorce itself, issues arising over the children and how to negotiate towards a financial settlement. There are helpful sections including tips on finding and dealing with solicitors, costs, first moves, the finances generally, housing, pensions, types of orders, mediation, procedures and courts. Case studies are presented to illustrate particular experiences common to many marriage crises, and a list of relevant addresses and telephone numbers is provided.

"This book will be a friend and ally to anyone walking through the minefield of divorce, separation and wondering who gets custody of the wok. What makes it so special is that it is a work that gives equal weight to your legal rights and your aching heart - and that's what makes it such an easy work to love, cherish, honour and obey. Brilliant.

"This book is really good! It gives so much help in coming to terms with the breakdown of a relationship and really should be read by anyone who is going through a divorce. I hope that it reaches a wide audience as it fully deserves to

"The author puts it so clear and easy to understand, step by step, from emotional to legal aspects especiall with children concerns. I read this book to understand my beloved friend as how he has to go through the difficult time along the process the British way. I wish I had a chance to read it when I had to go through it myself some 10 years ago. The author is right in every way that all, any nationalities, culture, men and women alike, are to go through the difficulty of 7 emotional stages. She is also right about there is a fresh new life after separation/divorce."
"The book explains in an understandable, but not simplistic, manner the emotional and legal process of separation and divorce. The author identifies the common causes of conflict between spouses during a divorce, helps the reader understand what the true roots of the conflicts are, and aids the reader in finding the least destructive ways to resolve the conflicts. I particularly liked the sections dealing with the children of a divorce. The author describes a series of stages that a person goes through in coping with such a traumatic event and the advice and guidance that she provides are extremely valuable. Similarly, the explanations about the actual legal process were clear and should be read by anyone, even before they go to a solicitor. This is a book that I recommend highly for people contemplating or in the middle of a divorce, but also for those whose divorce is final. The book is written by someone who clearly has a true understanding of what a divorce entails, doesn't use a lot of hard-to-understand terms, and leaves one feeling better equiped to understand and deal with what lies ahead. A "must read" book."
"A book to do the thinking for you at a time that you don't seem able to think clearly for yourself. Helps you to deal with all aspects that might arise, but most importantly, guides you through your childrens emotions too, as divorce is a family matter, not just an adult one. I couldn't have managed without this book..
